Family-based care for children in Tanzania

Project overview:

Project overview:
There are nearly 3 million Tanzanian children missing parental care or at risk of losing it. They’re either living on the streets or in orphanages, since their families lack the necessary support to parent them, often suffering from physical violence and all forms of abuse. Our partner Since 2016, by using a family work approach, Railway Children Africa has been reintegrating children back home with their families and helping older youth get employment or set up a business. Their support is made of weekly therapeutic home visits and practical support (food basket, school materials, medical care). Results show that 90% of the children contacted on the streets were off the streets and at home. |
